Tree Planting Action to Celebrate the Earth Day

The National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has organized a tree planting action to celebrate the Earth Day. First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Koka Seperteladze has participated in the action.

The staff of the National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement together with first Deputy Minister has planted 200 pine trees in Gldani district. The action has been facilitated by the Ecology and Greening Department of Tbilisi City Hall, aiming at protecting nature and creating healthier environment. Greening of the city as well as support of the events that foster environmental protection is very important.

Preservation, restoration and protection of natural environmental factors are among top priorities for every progressive country. Every new tree means a new life and it is especially important for future generations.

The Earth Day has been celebrated since 1970. It is one of the world's biggest large-scale events in the field of environmental protection, which annually involves over ten thousand organizations from 175 countries and more than million volunteers throughout the world. The Earth Day was celebrated for the first time in Georgia in 1990.
